Princess Leia actor, Carrie Fisher, passes away age 60
A great disturbance was felt in the Force today, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. We fear something terrible has happened. Carrie Fisher, famous for portraying Princess Leia Organa in Star Wars, has passed away at age 60.
Carrie Fisher suffered a heart attack on Friday during a flight from London to LA. She was rushed into hospital where her condition was reported to be stable. The news of her untimely passing came from family spokesman Simon Halls earlier today on behalf of her daughter Billie Lourd:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning.”
Her Star Wars co-stars took to Twitter to mourn their friend:

Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, praised Carrie Fisher in an official statement posted on the Star Wars website:
“Carrie holds such a special place in the hearts of everyone at Lucasfilm it is difficult to think of a world without her. She was Princess Leia to the world but a very special friend to all of us. She had an indomitable spirit, incredible wit, and a loving heart. Carrie also defined the female hero of our age over a generation ago. Her groundbreaking role as Princess Leia served as an inspiration of power and confidence for young girls everywhere. We will miss her dearly.”
Carrie Fisher had recently finished shooting for Star Wars Episode VIII which is due to be released on December 15, 2017. It is unsure at this point how the film will be effected by Fisher’s death, she was due to reprise the role again in Star Wars Episode IX though it is likely that the film will be rewritten in light of Fisher’s passing.
Sadly Carrie Fisher is not the only iconic Star Wars actor to pass away in 2016. Kenny Baker, who was the man inside the R2-D2 suit, died on 13th August.
At times like these it is important to remember the words of wise old Jedi Master Yoda:
“Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not.”
Rest in piece Carrie Fisher. May the Force be with you, always.
