Every Trailer from Super Bowl LI

Last night was the Super Bowl in America, the biggest night of the year for sports fans. Apparently the Patriots fought the Falcons… or something? If you’re like us, and are not a fan of football, let alone American football then you probably have very little interest (or knowledge) of the Super Bowl. What is exciting for people like us are the commercials. The Super Bowl is also the biggest night of the year for advertisers with commercial space during the game being one of the most coveted time slots in advertising history. That means plenty of new trailers for us non-sports fans to gawk over while

We’ve collected all of the trailers aired during Super Bowl LI for your viewing pleasure

Stranger Things Season 2

Stranger Things took the world by storm last year becoming one of Netflix’s most popular shows of all time. It is no surprise then that Netflix are willing to splash out on a Super Bowl spot for Season 2 of the show which, according to this new trailer, is due to arrive on Halloween. The trailer features some interesting footage that hint towards increased stakes including what appears to be a giant monster in the sky above Hawkins. We already know from the image that was released earlier this week that this season takes place around Halloween in 1985 (one year after the events of the first season) with the gang dressed up as the Ghostbusters. It’ll be interesting to see what other pop culture references they’ll be able to squeeze into the show this time around.

Logan

The latest trailer for Hugh Jackman’s final outing as Wolverine, Logan continues the tradition of using sombre music for its trailers. It doesn’t contain much in the way of new footage, which is good, and helps set the tone for the film which was established with that first trailer featuring Johnny Cash’s rendition of “Hurt”. Logan is one of our most anticipated films of 2017 and with the release date quickly approaching this trailer got us adequately pumped.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

It wouldn’t be the Super Bowl without a Marvel trailer now, would it? Or would it? I don’t know, but either way this year we got another look at James Gunn’s upcoming superhero in space movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This trailer gives us are first formal introduction to Yondu, Nebula and Mantis as fully-fledged members of the Guardians as well as our first proper look at Elizabeth Debicki’s villainous Ayesha. Packed full of new footage this trailer is getting us hyped to return to outer space and spend some time with the most lovable bunch of A-holes in the galaxy.

Transformers: The Last Knight

We’ll be the first to admit we’ve never seen a Michael Bay Transformers film. Needless to say it had a commercial during the Super Bowl so we felt obligated to include it in our list. This is the first trailer we’ve seen for this film (or any Transformer film for that matter). Based on this trailer alone I don’t think we’ll be going to see it. Though we were quite surprised to see that Anthony Hopkins is involved. There is plenty of action and lots of beautiful CGI to look at (and we assume plenty of explosions to gawk at) but I think we’ll stick to the original 1986 animated movie for now, thank you.

The Fate of the Furious

Remember when The Fast & The Furious was about street racing? Well that was 15 years and 7 films ago, it’s 2017 and The Fate of the Furious (the 8th film in the franchise) is here to stay. Another franchise that we’re not ashamed to admit we know very little about the trailer for this instalment appears absurdly comedic with car mounted miniguns, prison fight scenes and wrecking balls being some of the more believable aspects we saw in this preview. Oh, and did you know Kurt Russell is in it? Us neither. We still won’t see it, we’ll catch him in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 instead (where he will be playing a living planet, a concept slightly less believable than some of the things in this film).

That’s it. Which was your favourite commercial that aired during the Super Bowl this year? What is your most anticipated film of 2017? Let us know in the comments below!
